Winter in Japan: How to Dress Cute & Cozy

Winter in Japan: How to Dress Cute & Cozy

Winter in Japan can be chilly with snowy and windy days. However, you don’t have to compromise your style for the weather - in fact, colder days can be the perfect opportunity to change up the vibe and add some new elements into your look! Check out our best tips on how to dress cute while still staying cozy and comfy in the winter. (๑´>᎑<)~*

1. Get cute outer layers! Think jackets, coats, ponchos in pastel colours - these are going to be your wardrobe staples for the winter!

Jackets and coats don’t have to look boring. While you might be used to associating down jackets and the like with dark, monotone colours or “outdoor” colours like mustard or olive, there are many other options out there in different colours. In particular, you want to keep an eye out for pieces that have cute elements like appliques, special prints and bows. Outerwear tends to cost more, but good outerwear can be paired with a variety of looks, and you’ll usually only be wearing them when you’re outside, so you don’t have to worry about “repeating” too much!

A great example of cute outerwear is our “Pink Cherub Coat” and “Pure Cherub Coat” - these coat designs feature a frilly large collar and a cropped silhouette that add the perfect touch of intentionality to your look. They are stylish, versatile pieces that you can layer over both dresses and setups - and it’s this kind of outerwear that you’re looking for! If you’re looking for something a little warmer, the “Venus in Love Coat” is also a great option. Soft, fluffy and dreamy!

2. Too cold for skirts? Try layering skirts and dresses over pants!

The dress/skirt over pants look can be just as cute as just wearing skirts, and if you haven’t given it a try yet, this is your sign! This little hack not only keeps your warm during winter days, it also has a cute y2k look to it that is both quirky and unique. There are so many combinations you can go for - sundress or frilly white skirt over jeans for a coquettish look, or try tone-on-tone for a perfectly coordinated look.

You can also get pieces that have this aesthetic built-in! Try our “Dreamy Doll Velour Jogger Skirt”: these are the perfect bottoms for days out in autumn or winter. Featuring a frilly skirt over a jogger base, this is a super cute base you can build the rest of your look over. The little wings on the back add extra cuteness ♡

3. Long skirts are your best friend!

Long skirts are the perfect pieces for the winter. Full of romantic charm, they create the perfect pretty and elegant silhouette. If you haven’t tried out any yet, this is the perfect opportunity to add a long skirt to your wardrobe. Pair them with a sweater for a cozy, comfy look, or wear with a blouse for a feminine, cute charm.

For transitional weather in autumn and spring, our “Love Patch Melody Skirt” is a super cute skirt made with soft denim and double heart patches. In winter, you want to look for more volume for more warmth - we have the “Prom Queen Bell Skirt,” a long statement skirt with plenty of dreamy volume crafted from fine multilayered tulle. More floof, more style ♡

4. Heattech is your secret weapon against the cold!

You’ve heard of it, you most likely know someone that wears it - but it is a true game changer. Heattech is a technology developed by Uniqlo which has special heat retaining properties! They sell lots of innerwear with Heattech technology, and they are much more effective at insulating against the cold than something like a regular cotton tee. Because they are designed to be so thin, you don’t have to worry about bulk when layering them under your shirts. All Heattech products are great, but our favourite might be Heattech tights - they keep your legs nice and warm even when it’s snowing. You can even layer socks over them for a cute look!

Now you’re ready to face winter in your cutest final form ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ) ! Remember, the most important thing is to feel good in what you wear, and you deserve to feel good no matter the weather.

Have a lovely winter season!
